We place the Afghan Hound Puppy across Vikas Nagar and the surrounding Uttarakhand region. Each dog is health-checked before listing, and you are welcome to ask about lineage and age before committing to anything.
Grooming and seasonal coat care
Check ears and paws after walks through the green belt - grass seeds and ticks are the two common finds, and both are trivial caught early. For a large dog this takes a couple of minutes and prevents most of what we get asked about.
The Afghan Hound Puppy in a planned city
Households in Vikas Nagar tend to have gardens or shared green within a short walk, which suits a Afghan Hound Puppy well. The breed does not need a large plot - it needs somewhere consistent to be taken twice a day, and this city provides that.
Winter and summer, both real
Plan for two seasons rather than one. Summer means early walks and constant water for a large breed; winter means warmth at night and slightly more food. the cooler climate suits thick-coated breeds but needs winter planning for others Owners who anticipate both rarely have trouble with either.
Exercise and the green belt
Vary the route. A large dog walked the same way daily gets bored, and a bored Afghan Hound Puppy finds its own entertainment at home. The sector layout makes variety easy, which is a small advantage worth using.
Health documentation
You should expect to see original records, dated and signed by the attending vet. For a large dog we also note the expected adult size, since a size category on its own tells you very little about the Afghan Hound Puppy in front of you.

Raising a Afghan Hound in Vikas Nagar: local climate
Vikas Nagar is hottest in May, averaging 41°C in the afternoon, and stays above 38°C from May to June. A Afghan Hound needs real protection from that because a large body sheds heat slowly: walks before 8 am and after 7 pm, a cool tiled floor or a cooler in the afternoons, fresh water in more than one place, and never a parked car.
Winters are cool rather than cold, with January nights around 8°C.
The rainy season runs from June to September, and July is usually the wettest month. Check for ticks after every walk; dry inside the ears after baths and rain, since droopy ears trap moisture.
For a new Afghan Hound puppy, the easiest months to arrive are October to March: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
| Month | Jan | Feb | Mar | Apr | May | Jun | Jul | Aug | Sep | Oct | Nov | Dec |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| High °C | 21 | 25 | 31 | 38 | 41 | 40 | 34 | 31 | 31 | 30 | 26 | 22 |
| Low °C | 8 | 11 | 15 | 22 | 26 | 28 | 26 | 25 | 23 | 19 | 14 | 9 |
| Rain mm | 26 | 38 | 22 | 24 | 40 | 150 | 375 | 296 | 202 | 19 | 4 | 11 |
Climate figures: NASA POWER long-term monthly averages for a roughly 50 km area around the city, so rain near hills or the coast can read higher than in the city itself.

Care Tips for Afghan Hound Puppy
Seasonal care for a large dog in Vikas Nagar.
- Exercise: two walks daily; vary the route, the sector layout makes that easy.
- Joints: do not over-exercise a young Afghan Hound Puppy just because the space is there.
- Recall: off-lead only once it is genuinely reliable, however open the ground looks.
- Skin: over-bathing in winter dries it out. Brushing beats washing here.
- Records: kept with your own documents, for the next vet who asks.
