Availability here is steady rather than high-volume. A aloof large breed is a considered purchase, and we would rather answer questions properly than hurry a placement.
Grooming and seasonal coat care
Check ears and paws after walks through the green belt - grass seeds and ticks are the two common finds, and both are trivial caught early. For a large dog this takes a couple of minutes and prevents most of what we get asked about.
Price and what sits behind it
Most placements fall between ₹78,000 and ₹135,500. A documented dog from a known litter sits at the upper end and is generally the better purchase - the difference is usually recovered in the first year's veterinary costs.
Health documentation
Each Afghan Hound Puppy is health-checked before it is listed, and leaves with its vaccination and deworming record. Read it at handover rather than later - the booster schedule for the coming year runs from those dates.
Winter and summer, both real
cold mountain. Unlike much of the country, Kichha gets a genuine winter, and a large dog feels the January nights. winters get genuinely cold, so warmth and joint care take priority A Afghan Hound Puppy needs bedding off the floor in the cold months and shade and water through the hot ones - two different problems in one year.
The Afghan Hound Puppy in a planned city
Households in Kichha tend to have gardens or shared green within a short walk, which suits a Afghan Hound Puppy well. The breed does not need a large plot - it needs somewhere consistent to be taken twice a day, and this city provides that.

Records and aftercare
Expect original records, dated and signed by the attending vet. For a large dog we also note the expected adult size, since a size category alone tells you little about the Afghan Hound Puppy in front of you.
Raising a Afghan Hound in Kichha: local climate
Kichha is hottest in May, averaging 42°C in the afternoon, and stays above 38°C from April to June. A Afghan Hound needs real protection from that because a large body sheds heat slowly: walks before 8 am and after 7 pm, a cool tiled floor or a cooler in the afternoons, fresh water in more than one place, and never a parked car.
Winters are cool rather than cold, with January nights around 9°C.
The rainy season runs from June to September, and July is usually the wettest month. Check for ticks after every walk; dry inside the ears after baths and rain, since droopy ears trap moisture.
For a new Afghan Hound puppy, the easiest months to arrive are October to March: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
| Month | Jan | Feb | Mar | Apr | May | Jun | Jul | Aug | Sep | Oct | Nov | Dec |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| High °C | 22 | 25 | 32 | 38 | 42 | 41 | 34 | 32 | 32 | 30 | 26 | 22 |
| Low °C | 9 | 12 | 16 | 22 | 27 | 29 | 27 | 26 | 24 | 19 | 14 | 10 |
| Rain mm | 26 | 38 | 22 | 24 | 40 | 150 | 375 | 296 | 202 | 19 | 4 | 11 |
Climate figures: NASA POWER long-term monthly averages for a roughly 50 km area around the city, so rain near hills or the coast can read higher than in the city itself.
