Availability here is steady rather than high-volume. A aloof large breed is a considered purchase, and we would rather answer questions properly than hurry a placement.
Winter and summer, both real
Plan for two seasons rather than one. Summer means early walks and constant water for a large breed; winter means warmth at night and slightly more food. the cooler climate suits thick-coated breeds but needs winter planning for others Owners who anticipate both rarely have trouble with either.
The Afghan Hound Puppy in a planned city
Layout is the quiet advantage here. A aloof Afghan Hound Puppy benefits from predictable routes and open green between sectors, and owners find the daily walk is something they look forward to rather than schedule around traffic.
Price and what sits behind it
Most placements fall between ₹78,000 and ₹135,500. A documented dog from a known litter sits at the upper end and is generally the better purchase - the difference is usually recovered in the first year's veterinary costs.
Grooming and seasonal coat care
Coat work here is seasonal rather than constant. A Afghan Hound Puppy will shed heavily as the weather turns, twice a year, and brushing through those weeks saves both the coat and your furnishings. Between times a weekly check is enough.
Exercise and the green belt
Off-lead time should wait until recall is genuinely reliable, however open the ground looks. A aloof Afghan Hound Puppy that returns when called can use this city properly; one that does not will spend 12–14 Years on a lead.

Records and aftercare
Expect original records, dated and signed by the attending vet. For a large dog we also note the expected adult size, since a size category alone tells you little about the Afghan Hound Puppy in front of you.
Raising a Afghan Hound in Haldwani: local climate
Haldwani is hottest in May, averaging 40°C in the afternoon, and stays above 38°C from May to June. A Afghan Hound needs real protection from that because a large body sheds heat slowly: walks before 8 am and after 7 pm, a cool tiled floor or a cooler in the afternoons, fresh water in more than one place, and never a parked car.
Winters are cool rather than cold, with January nights around 7°C.
The rainy season runs from June to September, and July is usually the wettest month. Check for ticks after every walk; dry inside the ears after baths and rain, since droopy ears trap moisture.
For a new Afghan Hound puppy, the easiest months to arrive are October to March: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
| Month | Jan | Feb | Mar | Apr | May | Jun | Jul | Aug | Sep | Oct | Nov | Dec |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| High °C | 20 | 24 | 30 | 37 | 40 | 39 | 33 | 31 | 30 | 29 | 25 | 21 |
| Low °C | 7 | 10 | 15 | 21 | 25 | 27 | 25 | 24 | 22 | 18 | 13 | 8 |
| Rain mm | 26 | 38 | 22 | 24 | 40 | 150 | 375 | 296 | 202 | 19 | 4 | 11 |
Climate figures: NASA POWER long-term monthly averages for a roughly 50 km area around the city, so rain near hills or the coast can read higher than in the city itself.
