We place the Afghan Hound Puppy across Devprayag and the surrounding Uttarakhand region. Each dog is health-checked before listing, and you are welcome to ask about lineage and age before committing to anything.
Winter and summer, both real
temperate highland. Unlike much of the country, Devprayag gets a genuine winter, and a large dog feels the January nights. winters get genuinely cold, so warmth and joint care take priority A Afghan Hound Puppy needs bedding off the floor in the cold months and shade and water through the hot ones - two different problems in one year.
The Afghan Hound Puppy in a planned city
Devprayag is unusually kind to a large dog. Sectors are walkable, green space is designed in rather than left over, and most homes have ground-floor access. A Afghan Hound Puppy raised here gets more outdoor time than the same breed would in a denser city, and it shows in temperament.
Price and what sits behind it
Consider the 12–14 Years cost rather than the purchase alone. Food, seasonal grooming and routine care for a large breed add up steadily, and a household that has planned for that enjoys the dog considerably more.
Exercise and the green belt
Off-lead time should wait until recall is genuinely reliable, however open the ground looks. A aloof Afghan Hound Puppy that returns when called can use this city properly; one that does not will spend 12–14 Years on a lead.
Health documentation
Each Afghan Hound Puppy is health-checked before it is listed, and leaves with its vaccination and deworming record. Read it at handover rather than later - the booster schedule for the coming year runs from those dates.
Afghan Hound Puppy price in Devprayag
From ₹78,000, most placements falling between ₹78,000 and ₹135,500. The figure reflects lineage, age at handover and the health work already completed, and we are happy to explain any of those rather than simply quote a number.
Records and aftercare
Expect original records, dated and signed by the attending vet. For a large dog we also note the expected adult size, since a size category alone tells you little about the Afghan Hound Puppy in front of you.
Raising a Afghan Hound in Devprayag: local climate
Summer here peaks in May at about 33°C. That is manageable for a Afghan Hound, but watch it closely because a large body sheds heat slowly: keep activity to the cooler ends of the day and a shaded, ventilated spot indoors.
Winter nights drop to about 4°C in January. A Afghan Hound copes well with cold, but a puppy still needs a warm, draught-free bed for its first winter.
The rainy season runs from June to September, and July is usually the wettest month. Check for ticks after every walk; dry inside the ears after baths and rain, since droopy ears trap moisture.
For a new Afghan Hound puppy, the easiest months to arrive are February, March, April, May, October and November: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
| Month | Jan | Feb | Mar | Apr | May | Jun | Jul | Aug | Sep | Oct | Nov | Dec |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| High °C | 15 | 18 | 23 | 29 | 33 | 32 | 28 | 26 | 25 | 23 | 20 | 17 |
| Low °C | 4 | 6 | 10 | 15 | 20 | 21 | 21 | 20 | 18 | 14 | 9 | 6 |
| Rain mm | 34 | 47 | 36 | 29 | 43 | 165 | 385 | 366 | 182 | 19 | 5 | 12 |
Climate figures: NASA POWER long-term monthly averages for a roughly 50 km area around the city, so rain near hills or the coast can read higher than in the city itself.
