We place the Afghan Hound Puppy across Pauri and the surrounding Uttarakhand region. Each dog is health-checked before listing, and you are welcome to ask about lineage and age before committing to anything.
Health documentation
You should expect to see original records, dated and signed by the attending vet. For a large dog we also note the expected adult size, since a size category on its own tells you very little about the Afghan Hound Puppy in front of you.
Winter and summer, both real
cool hill. Unlike much of the country, Pauri gets a genuine winter, and a large dog feels the January nights. the cooler climate suits thick-coated breeds but needs winter planning for others A Afghan Hound Puppy needs bedding off the floor in the cold months and shade and water through the hot ones - two different problems in one year.
Exercise and the green belt
A Afghan Hound Puppy does well on two walks a day here, and the green belt makes that pleasant rather than a chore. Resist the temptation to over-exercise a young dog because the space is available - growing joints set the limit, not the distance you can manage.
Price and what sits behind it
A Afghan Hound Puppy starts from ₹78,000 here. The figure reflects lineage, age at handover and the health work already completed. We are happy to explain any of those rather than simply quote a number.
The Afghan Hound Puppy in a planned city
Households in Pauri tend to have gardens or shared green within a short walk, which suits a Afghan Hound Puppy well. The breed does not need a large plot - it needs somewhere consistent to be taken twice a day, and this city provides that.
Price and what sits behind it
₹78,000 to ₹135,500. A documented dog from a known litter sits at the upper end and is generally the better purchase — the difference is usually recovered in the first year's veterinary costs.
Health documentation
Each Afghan Hound Puppy is health-checked before it is listed and leaves with its vaccination and deworming record. Read it at handover rather than later: the booster schedule for the coming year runs from those dates.
Raising a Afghan Hound in Pauri: local climate
The city sits at about 1,532 m above sea level, so it runs cooler than the plains around it.
Summers here are mild, peaking at about 31°C in May, so heat is rarely the problem for a Afghan Hound that it is on the plains.
Winter nights drop to about 3°C in January. A Afghan Hound copes well with cold, but a puppy still needs a warm, draught-free bed for its first winter.
The rainy season runs from June to September, and July is usually the wettest month. Check for ticks after every walk; dry inside the ears after baths and rain, since droopy ears trap moisture.
For a new Afghan Hound puppy, the easiest months to arrive are March, April, May, October and November: not too hot, not too wet, and warm enough at night.
| Month | Jan | Feb | Mar | Apr | May | Jun | Jul | Aug | Sep | Oct | Nov | Dec |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| High °C | 14 | 16 | 22 | 28 | 31 | 31 | 26 | 24 | 23 | 21 | 18 | 15 |
| Low °C | 3 | 5 | 8 | 14 | 18 | 20 | 19 | 18 | 16 | 12 | 8 | 4 |
| Rain mm | 34 | 47 | 36 | 29 | 43 | 165 | 385 | 366 | 182 | 19 | 5 | 12 |
Climate figures: NASA POWER long-term monthly averages for a roughly 50 km area around the city, so rain near hills or the coast can read higher than in the city itself.

Seasonal care for a large dog in Pauri.
- Exercise: two walks daily; vary the route, the sector layout makes that easy.
