Finding a vet in the tricity - and why exotics need a different question

17 Sep 2026 1 min read 28 views
Registering early is easy. Finding someone who treats birds is the part that catches people out.

Register with a clinic in the first fortnight, while nothing is wrong. That is standard advice and it holds here. The tricity-specific part is what to ask if you keep anything other than a dog or a cat.

Ask about the species directly

Many small-animal clinics do not see birds at all, and some will not see rabbits or guinea pigs either. Ask before you need to know. Finding out at eleven at night is the wrong time to discover it.

What a first visit should cover

A weight recorded against a target, a general examination, the next booster date, and a conversation about diet. If diet does not come up, raise it.

Out of hours

Ask what the arrangement is and save the number somewhere another member of the household can find it. Chandigarh, Mohali and Panchkula are close enough that the nearest open clinic may not be the one you registered with.

Keep the records together

Booster schedules run from the original dates. If you change clinic or move city, that history is the first thing anyone will ask for.
